love wins wreath

Hi Guys! As a first attempt to up my hand lettering and watercolor skills, I created the above graphic from scratch. I took photos of each hand-to-paper element with my iPhone, then edited and composed my layout in Photoshop.

I wanted to emphasize the word love, so I made it a bold script style and contrasted it with the word wins in a thin, san serif style.

My initial design was comprised of the fonts Good Dog and Gnuolane, together with free floral vectors.

But, on discovery of my new favorite DIY tutorial blog every-tuesday, I challenged myself to improve my game with Teela’s talent, awesome style, inspiration, and easy to follow videos. I will spend my free time learning from Teela and sharing some of my outcomes.

Furthermore, in the spirit of Valentine’s day, I’d like to offer some quick tips regarding web design love:

  1. Give yourself enough time to love your results, but if that’s not possible, learn for next time.
  2. Inspire your projects with things you love. For example, if you love nature, use nature’s colors, patterns, sounds or textures in your web designs.
  3. If you don’t feel the love, change your perspective to find the silver lining. But, if your heart tells you it’s time to modify your direction, heed the call.

Follow your heart (as well as your head) to design blogs and websites that score big.
