I used the free jQuery, responsive WordPress plugin, Wow Slider for my Home page. I love the simple user experience that the Wow Slider provides. Here’s a short tutorial explaining how to use the Wow Slider on the Mac.
Download Wow Slider
Go to wowslider.com
Download the free version.
Double click wowslider.dmg
Drag & Drop the wowslider icon into the Applications folder.
Double click the icon to open the program.
Drap & Drop images onto the white area.
Next, to configure your slider, click the Properties button at the top of the page (the Wrench).
At the top-left, select the General, Image, and Publish tabs and choose your settings.
Under the General tab, configure the basic settings for your slider.
Under the Image tab, select your slider template and transition effect.
Under the Publish tab, select “WordPress Slider,” as your Publishing Method.
Once you customize your slider, click the Publish button at the bottom-right to save your slider as wowslider.zip
Install the wowslider plugin from your WordPress interface:
In WordPress, go to Plugins/Add New/Upload/Browse for wowslider.zip/Install Now/Activate Plugin.
In the WordPress menu section, go to the WOW Slider plugin/All Sliders/Copy the short code.
Go to the page you want the slider to appear. Click the HTML view. Paste the short code.
Hit update. View the page.
You now have a jQuery animated slider! Wow – that’s cool!
To Add a New Slider
Go to WowSlider/Add New/Choose File/wowslider.zip/Add Now/Copy new short code/Paste in HTML view on the desired page.
