I love Frida Kahlo’s self portraits containing tropical botanicals and animals. Glimpses of Frida’s pain grace her paintings along with escape routes to process her thoughts and feelings.

my portrait

Inspired by Frida, I painted a self portrait and added flat Photoshop leaves to express the tears I shed for the environment and every day stresses of life. In the midst of turmoil, I keep a smile on my face and positive mental thoughts.

To quote Oprah, “what we focus on, expands.”

I feel my emotions, process them, and focus on the positive. I find the silver lining in everything.

Take a look at some of Frida Kahlo’s paintings. Do you see hope and humor in them?
