I love Frida Kahlo’s use of tropical botanicals and animals in her self portraits. On deeper observation, glimpses of Frida’s pain often grace some of her paintings along with escape routes to process her thoughts and feelings. I’ve posted the more positive paintings in this update (11.10.2017).

Inspired by Frida, I painted a self portrait and added flat Photoshop leaves to express the tears I shed for the environment and every day stresses of life. In the midst of turmoil, I keep a smile on my face and positive mental thoughts.

To quote Oprah, “what we focus on, expands.”

I feel my emotions, process them, and focus on the positive. I find the silver lining in everything.
